Thiruvananthapuram has an ancient Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple which is 260 years old. Spread across an area of 2400 sq meters, this breathtaking temple has a majestic entrance which is 30m tall. The architecture of this temple is intriguing with a seven-tier eastern gopuram. There is a beautiful idol of Padmanabha made up of around 10,000 salagramam is reclining on the sacred serpent. It is said that the salagramam used in the temple came from Nepal on elephant.
Veli Tourist Park:
The Veli Tourist Park is a striking attraction which has amazingly pretty, huge sculptures made by Kanai Kunhiraman a local artist. This tourist park is a nice place for day picnic with friends and family.
Puthe Maliga Palace Museum:
In Thiruvananthapuram, there is Puthe Maliga Palace Museum where artifacts of the kings of Travancore are preserved. The traditional architecture of the palace reflects Kerala’s history and influence. Inside the museum you can see the portraits of various kings who ruled in, the images of Kathakali dancers adorn the walls of the museum and there are ornate thrones which add charming beauty to the museum.
