World Laughter Day –Laughter for Living
Word Laughter Day is observed on the first Sunday in the month of May every year. This festival was first celebrated on 11th January, 1988 in Mumbai, India. The festival was arranged by Dr. Madan Kataria. He is the founder of the Laughter Yoga Worldwide movement. This event is celebrated in grand style in almost every country these days. If you are too stressed, unhappy or depressed, attending this even in your nearby city can reap the health benefits.
On the first event of the World Laughter Day, almost 12 thousand plus people participated. Members from International and local laughter class were the one who joined this event. The first event took place in the year 2000 as “Happy-Demic”. It was held at Copenhagen, Denmark where more than 10, 000 people gathered to attend this event arranged at Town Hall Square. It was the largest event ever gathered for the World Laughter Day. This day was even recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Importance of World Laughter Day
It was the dream of Dr. Kararia’s to promote world peace with the help of laughter. Laughter is the best medicine that can heal all your pain, stressed and depression. The science of emotions got explored. He taught that practicing Yoga with laughter can release Feel Good type of hormones. It eventually will create warmth, unconditional love, happiness, tolerance, compassion and generosity. By practicing this method, the cocktail joy will be release from the body. It will definitely eliminate fear, hatred, jealously, violence, emotions and aggression associated in the body. He believed that when you laugh, you change and you can even change the entire world with your happiness. People often pass through emotional activities due to hectic routine. In this way attending the Laughter group can release all stress, pain, aggression and hence can helps themselves to live a better life.
During the event, people chant “Ho Ho Ha Ha Ha” and a very good yeah! People also dance and clap to release the tension. They assemble at open area so that they can actually enjoy the fresh air along with Laughter sessions.
Though there are laughter clubs in almost every country, but to commemorate this occasion, it is celebrated on the first Sunday month of May every year. This event is also followed by arranging amazing entertainment program of dance, music and various contests.
