Technology Day is celebrated as symbol of the quest for technological creativity, technical inquiry, new technological innovation and translation of that quest in the integration Society, Science and Industry. Every year,` Technology Day' is celebrated across India on May 11; being honoured to remember the anniversary of Shakti, the Pokhran nuclear test held on 11 May 1998 in Rajasthan.
It is also significant because Nation achieved a vast technological improvement on Technology Day. In Bangalore, “Hansa-3”, the first indigenous aircraft was also test flown on this important day. Not only this, on Technology Day, India also executed successful test firing of the Trishul missile.

Various events are also organized in technical institutes and engineering colleges to mark the occasion. Presentations, lectures, competitions, quizzes and interactive sessions on different aspects of science are organized all over India.
The day is important for engineers, planners, scientists and all others involved in nation building and governance. The person as well as companies are also awarded with National Technology Awards for adopting new technologies by the president of India. The ministry of science and technology also organize and co-ordinate different events.
