 Legend behind Jaya Ekadashi

According to the legend, once a Gandharva was asked to sing in front of God Indra. While singing he was missing his wife and thus was unable to sing properly. Because of his out of rhythm singing, Lord Indra got irritated and cursed his beloved and said she will change into a demon. Gandharva got scared and asked for mercy. But as Lord Indra was annoyed, he refused his plea.

Gandharva tried numerous trials to restore back his better half to her normal form, but wasn’t successful. One day he met Narad Rishi. He pleaded him and asked for help. On this, Narad Rishi (Priest)  suggested Gandharva to observe the fast in the Magh month. He followed the suggestion of Narad Rishi (Priest) and observed Ekadashi fast. As a result, his beloved returned back to her original beautiful form.

So, one can easily observe Jaya Ekadashi Vrat with a clean mind & soul and overcome all the hurdles of his/ her life.
