Indira Gandhi Death Anniversary

Assassination of Indira Gandhi
Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi, the Third Prime Minister of India, was assassinated at 09:20 on 31 Oct 1984, at her Safdarjung Rd, Delhi residence. She was killed by her bodyguards, Beant Singh and Satwant Singh, in the aftereffects of Operation Blue Star (it was an Indian military operation which occurred between 1 June and 8 June 1984, ordered by PM Indira Gandhi). Indira Gandhi was brought at 09:30 to the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), where doctors operated on her and she was declared dead at 14:20 PM.
The day before her death (30 Oct 1984) she visited Orissa where she gave her last speech:
I am alive today, I may not be there tomorrow...I shall continue to serve until my last breath and when I die, I can say, that every drop of my blood will invigorate India and strengthen it
