About Sir M. Visvesvaraya
Sir Visvesvaraya was self disciplined man and a selfless patriot, whose only objective was to ensure Indi’s excellence in the field of engineering. He was known to be a perfectionist for whom every task was equally important and hence had to be completed with precision. He made many important inventions and developed various techniques that made India stand proudly on an international platform. His strong will and dedication to work has continued to inspire many young professionals even decades after his death.
Sir Visvesvaraya was especially renowned for developing ways for harnessing water resources. He was the brains behind the construction of several dams as well as implementation of irrigation and drinking water schemes in various parts of India. Among his most notable achievements were the designing of the system of automated weir water flood gates and the construction of KR Sagar dam in Karnataka. His devotion to his motherland was unmatched and no amount of fame or perks or recognition could bribe him into doing anything that was not in favor of India.
He was bestowed with the honor of Bharat Ratna in 1955, for his great contribution towards the growth and development of India. With his death on 14th April, 1962, the nation not only lost a great son but a true patriot.
