Army Day- The day dedicated to Indian army
The word “army day” indicates that it is a day to pay tribute to the Indian Army. We all are aware of the role our nation’s army plays in our life. It is because of them that we feel safe and protected in our houses. The jawans stay away from their loved and dear ones so that we can stay with our loved ones. This speechless sacrifice and the valiant sacrifices of the lives of our soldiers are showed due respect on this day.

Date and origination of this special day for army people
Every year this day is observed on the 15th of January. In 2013, like every year, Tuesday, the 15th of January will be observed as the 65th Army Day. This day recognizes the event when the Lt. General K.M Cariappa became the first Commander-in- Chief of the armed force taking the charges of our soldier from the last Commander of the British, Sir Francis Butcher. From that day onwards it was decided that this very day, 15th January will be celebrated as Army Day nationwide.

Celebration of Army Day
Army Day is celebrated in Delhi as Delhi is the capital of India and is also observed in the 6 Army Command, which happens to be Army headquarter situated in Delhi. The beginning of the celebration is done by the Defense Minister of India who takes the Guard of Honor. The event is the followed by series of beautifully synchronized parades showed by the soldiers under their captains. The jawans give gunfire salutes to the valiant soldiers who have lost their life in the service of the nation. Some patriotic songs are sung and some dance performances are also performed. The Defense Minister and the Army General both deliver some encouraging and heartwarming speeches to boost the spirit of your armed force. They then pay tribute to the martyrs of our nation.

Though the actions of our armed forces are kept as top secret yet on this day this celebration is opened for public view as well. The civilians can enter the premises of this event under strict security, surveillance, and checking so that they too can pay their tribute and gratitude to the martyrs of the country for whom they are safe and alive. Arrangement of refreshments for all guests is arranged by the defense government of India. Many VVIPs and VIPs also attend this event to pay their homage. The Army Day is an event worth watching.
